OUR STYLISTS & SPECIALISTS
JOHN WUTHRICH
John Jay & Company didn’t become what it is by accident. It was created with purpose by its owner, John. John’s story is one of those “this was always in him” kind of paths. Back in high school, he was already cutting hair! His sisters, his friends, anyone who would sit still long enough. After IU, he decided to take that natural talent seriously and enrolled in cosmetology school, officially stepping into the industry in 1984. He first worked at Main Lines in Muncie starting in 1984, then spent time in Florida in 1986, and by 1987 he was back home helping build what would become John Jay & Company.
What pushed him to open and grow his own salon wasn’t just the love of hair. It was also family influence. John always admired his father, who owned businesses, and he wanted to follow in those footsteps by building something lasting: a place where clients feel taken care of and a team can be proud to work. Behind the chair, John specializes in haircuts and color, with a steady, confident approach that comes from decades of doing the work and doing it well. Outside of the salon, he’s usually staying active with a workout, working on lawncare and landscaping, or cooking. His go-to hair tip is simple but spot-on: keep your hair trimmed regularly and use a hair care routine that’s truly suited to your hair type. The right regimen makes all the difference!
OWNER
JULIE WUTHRICH
Julie’s story with the salon (and with John) is the kind of cute real-life moment you can’t plan. Years ago, her regular stylist was out of town, so Julie had an appointment with John, just trying to get her hair done like normal. But somewhere between the small talk, the laughter, and leaving the chair feeling like a brand new person, something clicked. What started as a simple fill-in appointment turned into a connection that stuck, and Julie and John ended up getting married in 1995!
Today, they own and run the salon together, and Julie plays a huge role in making sure the entire place feels organized, current, and welcoming. She’s the steady heartbeat behind the scenes—communicating with staff and clients.. Ask Julie what she loves most about the salon and she’ll tell you without hesitation: the professionalism and talent of the stylists, and the amazing clientele who make every day worth it! Outside of work, Julie enjoys going for walks and soaking up social time with dear friends. Her go-to tip is simple but important: use salon professional products always.
OWNER
CARRIE MILLER
Carrie found her way to John Jay’s after her mom mentioned the salon needed a receptionist. Carrie went in, talked with John, and he hired her! From the start, it just clicked: the salon was beautiful, everyone was kind and welcoming, and she loved getting to watch the stylists do what they genuinely love (plus, Julie’s clothing was a fun bonus that made the job even more enjoyable). Now, as of the first week of August, Carrie has been part of John Jay’s for 24 years! To her, John and Julie, JC and Bronwyn, and the entire staff aren’t just coworkers, they’re one big family.
Carrie is the glue that helps keep everything running smoothly for the stylists: she keeps the day organized, helps clients feel taken care of, and supports the team so everyone can stay focused on what they do best! Outside of work, Carrie loves golfing, watching sports, watching a good TV series, soaking up summer by the pool, taking nice walks, shopping, decorating, and spending time with her family and friends.
RECEPTIONIST
ANGIE TAYLOR
Angie’s love for hair started early. And honestly, it runs in the family. With two older cousins and her mom all in the industry, she grew up watching them work and always felt pulled toward it. Now with 30 years behind the chair, Angie brings a ton of experience to every appointment, and while she enjoys doing a little bit of everything, her absolute favorite service is highlights (she lives for that bright, blended, “this is exactly what I wanted” moment). Outside the salon, you’ll usually find her cheering on her kids at their sports or fitting in some kind of workout—she’s all about staying active. And if you ask her for a must-have product recommendation, she’ll tell you straight: the K18 line is the real deal!
HAIR STYLIST
CHRISTIAN PEREZ
Christian’s journey into hair started with a big life move and a family foundation in the industry! After relocating from the Dominican Republic to Virginia in March 2013, he began growing as a stylist while being inspired by his mother and sister, who owned a Dominican beauty salon in Norfolk, Virginia. Now with 10 years of experience, Christian is all about creating beautiful, personalized looks that fit you. Whether that’s a haircut, a wash-and-set, a bold color transformation, or lived-in, dimensional color like balayage!
Outside of the salon, he’s big on a life filled with love and the people he cares about. At home, you’ll find him in his “house ritual” mode. Cleaning up after his two Australian Shepherds, cooking, or planning his next travel adventure! His go-to hair tip is simple but powerful: put love into the process, follow the steps, respect timing, understand hair types and needs, and always be gentle.
HAIR STYLIST
CLAIR LANE
Clair’s love for hair started way before she ever stepped behind the chair. Growing up, she was always experimenting with her own hair and her sister’s. Styling it, changing it up, playing with color, and tagging along to the beauty shop with her grandma felt like stepping into the coolest place ever! Now with 3 years in the industry, Clair is building her craft with a special focus on what she loves most: color and highlights—the kind of services that totally change how someone feels when they look in the mirror. Outside of the salon, you’ll find Clair hanging out with her niece or spending time with her family. Her go-to hair tip is one she stands by every day: ALWAYS use heat protection, and remember… just because a look is perfect on someone else doesn’t mean it’s the right match for you!
HAIR STYLIST
KRISTEN COOK
Kristen’s love for the beauty world started young! She always loved going to the salon growing up because everyone seemed like they were genuinely having fun, and it looked like the kind of career where you get to make people feel good every single day. She’s been behind the chair since 2011, and while she won’t claim one single “specialty,” that’s actually her superpower: Kristen is consistent, experienced, and great at taking care of her regular clients—whether you’re coming in for a refresh, a subtle change, or just to keep your look feeling like you! Kristen also offers permanent jewelry services.
If you’ve ever seen her creativity outside of hair, you already know Kristen is seriously talented at makeup, with a real eye for bold, detailed transformations and special-occasion looks. Kristen loves traveling when she can and getting lost in a good book. Her go-to hair tip: limit heat when possible, and if you use hot tools regularly, always use a heat protectant.
HAIR STYLIST & MAKEUP ARTIST
MELISSA BOOKOUT
Melissa spent decades behind the chair as both a hair and nail stylist, caring for clients and building relationships that lasted for years. Her time in the salon wasn’t just about services. It was about connection, trust, and making people feel comfortable every time they walked through the door.
Today, Melissa brings that same warmth and familiarity to her role at the front desk. As one of the first smiling faces you see when you arrive, she helps keep the salon running smoothly while making every guest feel welcomed and at ease. Her years of hands-on experience in the industry give her a unique understanding of both clients and stylists, making her an invaluable part of the team.
Outside of the salon, Melissa enjoys spending time with her family. One thing she’s always believed after all her years in the beauty world: great service starts with genuine care, and that’s exactly what she brings while she is in the salon!
RECEPTIONIST
VERONICA RABENSTEIN
Veronica has wanted to be a hairstylist for as long as she can remember. She’s always loved styling hair, and it’s the kind of passion that never really left her. With 23 years in the industry, she brings a calm confidence and a ton of real experience to every appointment! If you’re looking for fuller hair, more confidence, or a look that feels like you again, she’s especially skilled at guiding you through options that are both natural-looking and personalized.
Outside of the salon, Veronica loves spending time with her family, traveling when she can, and tackling house projects. Her go-to hair tip is one she truly believes in: use quality products and find what works for your hair! Most people don’t have hair that magically looks perfect air-dried, so the right products (and a great cut) make a huge difference in achieving the style you want.
HAIR STYLIST & MICROBLADING SPECIALIST
MINDY BIZZELL
Mindy’s path into hair started with something that’s always been at the center of who she is: fashion. That passion naturally turned into a career where style meets people, and after 23 years in the industry, Mindy brings the kind of confidence and skill you can feel the moment you sit in her chair! She’s known for having a keen eye for precision haircutting and a real specialty in curly hair, helping clients find shapes and routines that make their texture look its best (without a ton of daily struggle).
When she’s not at the salon, Mindy is usually soaking up time with the people she loves or working in the yard. Her go-to advice is one she stands by: only commit to hairstyles that fit your lifestyle—because the best hair isn’t just what looks good in a photo, it’s what you can actually live with and feel great in every day!
HAIR STYLIST
HOLLY LING
Holly chose this career for the best reasons! She wanted work that felt fun, and that let her be creative and artistic every single day. And she’s done exactly that: Holly has been in the industry for nearly two decades, and she’ll celebrate 21 years on March 3, 2026. Behind the chair, she’s all about helping people feel like the best version of themselves, whether you’re coming in for a simple refresh or a bigger change, she brings a calm confidence and an eye for what’s going to flatter you!
Outside of the salon, Holly is very much in her happy place when she’s spending time with her kids and her dogs, getting out in nature, or heading to a concert. If you’re looking for a stylist who’s experienced, creative, and wonderful to be around, Holly is absolutely that person.
HAIR STYLIST
TORI EPPARD
Tori got into hair for a reason that says a lot about her! She wanted a career where she could help people feel beautiful, while also having the flexibility to be present for her daughter. With 4 years in the industry, she’s quickly built a reputation for being thoughtful, warm, and detail-focused, especially when it comes to blonding and color. Whether you want bright and bold or soft and natural, Tori loves creating a look that fits your vibe and your lifestyle—giving you a confidence every time you leave her chair.
Outside of the salon, she’s usually doing something cozy: reading, listening to Taylor Swift, and spending time with her family. Her go-to hair tip is simple but so important (especially for long-hair goals): if you’re growing your hair out, don’t skip regular trims! They’re what keep it healthy, strong, and actually getting longer instead of just breaking off.
HAIR STYLIST
HEATHER HERRON
Heather has wanted to be a hairstylist for as long as she can remember. The thought of helping people look beautiful and feel better has always been what inspired her! With over 25 years in the industry, Heather brings both experience and genuine joy to the chair (and she’ll tell you she still truly loves what she does). Heather especially enjoys foils with highs and lows. It lets her be creative while building custom dimension and brightness that’s tailored to each client.
Outside of the salon, Heather loves spending time and going places with her family, socializing, and getting together with friends. In the summer, you’ll find her soaking up the outdoors! Laying out, kayaking, and making trips. If you want a stylist who’s upbeat, experienced, and truly cares about how you feel when you leave, Heather is the one!

HAIR STYLIST & NAIL ARTIST
AMY KELLEY
Amy has always been a people person! She’s loved being around others and making them feel good, and she genuinely enjoys being part of what can turn someone’s day around. With 32 years in the industry, Amy brings a level of experience that’s instantly calming: she’s confident, consistent, and knows how to listen to what you want (and what will actually work for your hair). Behind the chair, she enjoys cutting and coloring the most—those classic services that keep you feeling fresh, polished, and like yourself.
Outside of work, Amy stays active with workouts, loves spending time with her two daughters, and enjoys hanging out with friends, reading, and being perfectly lazy with her cat, Frannie. Her go-to hair tip is one she stands by: use professional hair products. Over-the-counter products can cause buildup and coat the hair, which keeps it from looking and feeling as healthy as it can. Quality products truly make a difference!

Janelle Ross
Janelle brings 25 years of experience and a deep passion for skincare to her work as an esthetician. Her career began at a resort spa in Arizona and later expanded into a clinical med spa setting alongside a top physician, giving her a well-rounded blend of relaxation-focused and results-driven treatment expertise. She specializes in dermaplaning, a gentle exfoliating service that helps smooth skin, improve product absorption, and restore a brighter, more youthful glow for nearly all skin types.
After recently returning to Indiana, Janelle enjoys decorating her home, staying active at the gym, spending time with her daughter, and loving on her sweet senior puppy. Her skincare philosophy is simple: keep routines gentle, consistent, and tailored to your skin’s unique needs.
ESTHETICIAN
SABRINA GIRTON
Sabrina knew early on that she wanted a hands-on career. She didn’t want to take the four-year college route, and back when she went to beauty school it was a 9-month program, so she jumped in right after high school. She’d always enjoyed doing her own hair and thought it would be fun!
After an incredible 52 years in the industry, Sabrina is now happily retired. She built relationships that lasted decades, with some clients sitting in her chair for nearly 40 years — the kind of loyalty that says everything about the care she gave her people.
Throughout her career, Sabrina focused on serving long-time, “I’m here for my regular appointment” clients with haircuts, shampoo & blow-dries, perms, and just a touch of color. Outside of the salon, she loves spending time with family, browsing antiques, visiting casinos, and simply enjoying life. Her favorite piece of advice is simple and timeless: use quality hair products. It makes all the difference in how your hair looks and feels.
RETIRED HAIR STYLIST
CARINDA DAWSON
Carinda has been in the hair industry for 28 years and still genuinely enjoys the creativity and connection that come with working behind the chair! Her interest in hair started early—she remembers cutting and styling her Barbies’ hair as a kid, which eventually turned into a lifelong career. Today, Carinda especially enjoys highlighting and haircuts, helping clients achieve looks that feel fresh, flattering, and easy to maintain. She believes a great style should not only look good leaving the salon but also be manageable for everyday life.
Outside of work, Carinda enjoys spending time at summer concerts and taking advantage of the warm season whenever she can. Her go-to hair tip is simple but important: keep heat low, use a good conditioner, and always apply heat protectant to help keep hair healthy and strong!
